How to Use Eco Friendly Products with Kids

As a parent, I feel that it is my responsibility to teach my child about sustainability and how our actions impact the planet. But how can we do this in an age-appropriate way that doesn't cause them to tune out? Well, here are some ideas for getting your kids involved with eco-friendly products and teaching them about sustainability in an engaging way! Here is how to use eco-friendly products with kids.

Products for Eco-Conscious Parents

Using eco-friendly products is a great way to teach children the importance of being good stewards of the earth. I love blue land because they make easy to use tablets that you can just drop in water. An hour later- they dissolve, you shake it up, and it's done. For a working mom like me, it is a time saver that I appreciate. It's all natural ingredients, and they come in bio degradable containers so you can compost. They also make a powdered dish soap, which takes getting used to- but it's pretty powerful! You can use your own spray bottles, or buy a starter pack from them to start your journey. I'm a big advocate for all natural cleaning products since I have a house full of dogs and toddlers. I never have to worry about what they lick.

Recycle and reuse glass bottles

Glass bottles can be recycled into new ones, as long as they are not chipped or broken. If you have an old bottle that you used for something else and want to recycle it, make sure it’s clean first. Then put it in your curbside bin or take it to a recycling center near your house or school.

There are lots of things you can do with glass bottles! You could use the empty ones for storage around the house (keep them in a box), make crafts with them (like snow globes), or give them out as gifts during holidays like Christmas or Hanukkah when people exchange presents with each other (it’s fun!).

Use a silicone mat to hold your reusable containers

You can purchase a silicone mat that has a non-stick surface and will hold your reusable containers in place. The best part about these mats is that they can be used in the microwave, which makes reheating food much quicker and easier. You may also want to consider purchasing one with a built-in container holder so you can store all of your reusable containers on it. This way, you’re able to save space in the cupboard while keeping all of your items organized at the same time!

Wool balls are an organic way to help dry your clothes

I especially like them for puffy jackets and things, since they can also help fluff your clothes. Regular dryer sheets have toxic chemicals that can irritate skin, leave residue on clothing, and hurt the performance of your dryer. Wool balls can shorten drying time, don't have harmful chemicals, and can also help with static cling (although not to the extent that dryer sheets do). Love fragrant laundry? You can add a couple drops of an essential oil and your clothes will come out smelling great!

Teach kids the Environment Fundamentals

To help your kids fundamentally understand the importance of sustainability and help them take ownership over it, we suggest creating something to make a change. From creating their own eco-friendly cleaning kit, to making their own natural cleaners and giving you the go ahead to recycle glass containers, there are so many different ways you can get your kids involved in helping protect our planet’s future.

In today’s world, where the environment is constantly being put under pressure by humans, it can be difficult to know how to help protect it. Luckily, there are many ways you can get your kids involved in helping protect our planet’s future. Here are some tips for getting started:

There's something magical about watching your children grow, from their first uncertain steps to their confident, chaotic sprints through the hallways. When you first brought your little one home, the space you had might have seemed more than ample. Your living room was a castle, and the backyard a vast kingdom. Yet, as the years fly by, that once spacious home begins to feel more like a cozy cottage—charming but decidedly cramped. As your child hits milestones, such as turning five and starting school, you might notice they need more room to explore, play, and simply be a kid. This can be a clear signal that it’s time to consider upsizing your home. This blog will talk about how to recognize when your family might need a bigger space and how to take those next steps.
